  1. What are the other advantages the student can have on joining any of these courses ?

The students individually would be eligible to subscribe our Monthly News Letter – “Excise Flash” at a concessional rate of Rs.400 as against Rs.500 – Annual Subscription.

The students can also seek individually Annual Membership to the “ExCuSt Club” at the concessional fees of Rs.3,500 p.a. as against Rs.4,600 p.a.

 
  1. Are these courses available through correspondence ?

The above stated courses are offered through regular classes at Mulund, Mumbai but through correspondence only first two courses, i.e. (a) and (b) are offered.

 
  1. Are these courses recognized by University / Government ?

No they are neither approved by any University nor by the Government.

Since these courses are basically meant to educate the Assessees and the Self-employed Professionals, they are recognized by the Industries and Trade.

 
  1. Do you revise your syllabus?  If yes, how soon ?

We constantly review the syllabus at the beginning of each batch to cover changing needs of industry and trade and amendments in laws taking place from time to time.

 
  1. What is the eligibility to enroll any of the courses offered by you ?

Graduation. However, it can be relaxed for the employed persons.

 
  1. How do the TVC Courses differ from courses offered by other Institutes ?

Compared to the courses conducted by other Institutes, we are different in following respects :

  • Our courses are primarily for the working Executives in the area of Taxation, Finance, Commercial, Production and Marketing.

  • The entire course is conducted assuming the students are not exposed to these subjects earlier.

  • The notes are made in a simple language so that even the layman can read and understand without difficulty.

  • During the lectures as well as in the notes the Citation of Sections, Rules, Notifications, Circulars and the Court judgments are avoided to a great extent, basically to make it easy for the students to understand and remember.

The classes are taken by the practicing consultants, advocates and working executives and not by academicians who could teach such subjects and make them more interesting by sharing their day to day practical experience which is a value addition for the students etc.

 

  1. Will the student get any assistance for placement ?

We provide placement assistance to our students free of charge, subject to the student meeting the specified requirements indented by our client.

 
Duration :
 
  1. What is duration of each course ?

About 4 months. Incase of correspondence course the completion of the course depends upon the student, how soon he completes the assignments and submits the same to us.

 
Teaching Methods :
 
  1. Do the students require to remember and quote Sections, Rules, Notifications, Circulars and the Case Laws ?

To make the subject easy to understand and remember, as a policy we avoid quoting Sections, Rules, Notifications, Circulars and Case Laws while teaching the subject as well as in the notes.

 
  1. Do we have to write any assignments or test during the tenure of the course ?

Students who enroll for the courses through regular classes, there is no obligation to write any assignment or test except to write the exam on completion of the course.

The students who enroll for these courses through correspondence are required to write and submit the assignments on completion of each chapter which would be examined at our end and returned to the students to know their performance. Submission of the assignments is compulsory for the correspondence students and till they complete all the assignments do not qualify to write the exam.

 
  1. Do you have any arrangement to solve the individual’s  queries related to the study?

Yes, the students will have opportunity to get the difficulties / queries solved by the faculties during the classes or before / after the classes are over or by visiting our office with prior appointment, preferably on Sunday afternoon.  Answers on telephone, fax or e-mail not entertained.

For correspondence students, we organize a ‘contact session’ of two hours on the exam day, before exam, to answer individual’s queries, if any.

 
  1. Will the student get the latest notes incorporating the amendments till date ?

We compile the notes incorporating the latest changes upto the previous month end.

Ex-students who has to re-write the exam can have the latest notes on payment of extra fees.

Reading Materials :
 
  1. Do you provide the reading materials ?

Yes, we provide the most updated reference notes for the students which is specially compiled in a simple language and easy to understand even by the persons who are not acquainted with these tax laws.

 
  1. Do the students require to refer any other books for these courses ?

Students are not required to refer any other book to complete these courses since the notes compiled by us are good enough to understand the provisions of law and describe them in their own language.

 
Examination :
 
  1. Where do you conduct exam for correspondence students and when ?

At Mumbai once in four months – normally in September, December & April. The student has to make necessary travel and stay arrangements on his own

 
  1. How many papers to be written for exam and of how many marks ?

  • Diploma in Excise and Customs – one paper of 100 marks.

  • Diploma in Service Tax – one paper of 100 marks.

  • Diploma in Indirect Tax Management – two papers each of 100 marks.

  1. What is the nature of question papers ?

The question paper contains the questions subjective as well as objective and practical problems.

 
  1. What is the passing marks ?

50% in each paper.

 
  1. Is any exemption available for the course where two papers have to be written ?

Yes, the student who has secured 50 and above marks in one of the papers, need not rewrite the exam for such paper. It means he will have an option either to write exam only for the paper in which he could not secure 50 marks or he can write exam for both the papers again by waiving exemption option.

 
  1. Is any Certificate awarded to the students who pass the exam ?

Yes, a Diploma Certificate is awarded to all the students who have passed the exam.

Note: The above stated fees are all inclusive as on June 2008 and subject to revision as and when required.
 
  1. Is any other amount payable later on ?

No, the fee charged being all inclusive, no payment is collected separately for Stationery, Examination, etc.

Incase a student has to rewrite the exam, we do not charge any amount extra for the same, but if he wants latest notes, he has to pay  extra for the same.

 
  1. How to seek admission for these courses ?

A student can send the fees applicable through DD / Cheque issued in favour of “TVC Institute of Management” payable at Mumbai.  We do not accept outstation cheques.

 
  1. Is the fee once paid refundable / transferable ?

   No

 
  1. Can the fees be paid through instalments ?

   No

 
  1. Is any concession / discount offered for Group Enrollment ?
