ExCuSt CLUB – FAQs

 
  1. What is ExCuSt Club ?

It is a an Association of Persons who are directly or indirectly dealing in Excise / Customs / Service Tax.

 
  1.  What are the objectives of ExCuSt Club ?

  • To bring the professionals and the company’s executives together to share their experience,

  • To get practical solution for operating problems

  • To get update with latest development /amendment / case laws in Indirect Tax Laws.

  1. What type of the activities undertaken ?
  • A half day programme arranged on Quarterly basis i.e. immediately after presentation of Union Budget in March, on passing of Finance Bill in May / June, in September and  in December.

  • To provide the monthly updates, a complimentary copy of monthly News Letter “ExCuSt Flash” is sent to all the club members.

  1. Can the member get any other help / assistance from the club ?

The Corporate Members can avail following services at 10%  concession.

  • Consultancy on adhoc basis. (Assignment)

  • Sponsoring Executives for our Diploma Courses.

  • Organizing  In-house training programmes.

  1. Will issues related to VAT /Sales Tax covered ?

Primarily the 'ExCuSt Club' is started to deal with Central Excise / Customs and Service Tax only.  However, any subject (VAT / Sales Tax , Foreign Trade Policy etc.) related to these tax laws would also be considered for talk by the Guest Faculty.

 
  1. Who can become member of ExCuSt Club ?

Company’s Executives, Self Employed, Professionals, (Consultant / Advocate) and any other individual/ TVC Students who are having interest in Indirect Taxes.

 
  1. Can a person residing outside Mumbai subscribe for the membership ?

Yes, since the programmes are kept in the afternoon, it would be convenient for a person located around Mumbai to attend the same.

 
  1. What is the criteria to get the membership ?

Since specific criteria not laid down, any one who desires to know about Central Excise / Customs / Service Tax can become a member and get enrolled on payment of subscription.

 
  1. Is the facility of Life Membership available ?

No.

 
  1. Is membership transferable ?

No, however corporate members can depute any two persons from the organization.

 
  1. When can one enroll for membership ?

The enrollment for membership is open round the year and it would remain in force for 12 consecutive calendar months from the date of  enrollment.

 
  1. How much subscription is payable ?

  1. How is the subscription to be paid ?

Subscription is payable through DD / Cheque payable at Mumbai to be  issued in favour of “TVC Institute of Management”.

 
  1. Where are the programmes conducted and during which time ?

Normally programmes are conducted at Mulund / Thane in the afternoon.
The intimation for the programme is given about 15 days in advance.

 
  1. Is any specific day fixed for the programme ?

Normally we organize the programmes on Saturdays, but considering the availability of the Speaker and the Hall , we may have to organize the same on other week day as well.

 
  1. Who would be the speakers ?

Mr. T. Gunasekaran – A founder of the "ExCuSt Club" would be updating the members with the latest developments/ amendments in Indirect Taxes followed by a talk by the Guest Faculty on one of the topic of common interest related to    Excise, Customs and Service Tax.

 
  1. Is proxy attendance permissible ?
  • Only the coporate member can depute any two executives from their company to attend the quarterly programme.
